Longroad Energy is developing the proposed Serrano Gen-Tie Project (Project) which includes a new substation and an approximately 5-mile double-circuit gen-tie that will interconnect the proposed Serrano Solar and Storage Project to the regional grid at the existing APS Saguaro Substation and/or the existing TEP Tortolita Substation, both located in Pinal County (see map below).

The Project will transmit renewable energy generated at the Serrano Solar and Storage Project to the regional transmission grid. The storage component of the Project will also provide ancillary grid services which will support system reliability.

The Project filed an application for a Certificate of Environmental Compatibility (CEC) with the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) on October 19, 2021. There will be a public hearing starting November 30, 2021 with the Arizona Power Plant and Transmission Line Siting Committee, where they will decide whether to grant a CEC authorizing the construction of the project. The ACC will then hold a public hearing to decide whether to confirm, deny, or modify the certificate. As details of the hearings become available, they will be posted to this page.
