Meaningful exposure to careers in renewable energy

What the Summer Undergraduate Internship Program Is

The Summer Undergraduate Internship Program is a 10-week, paid experience designed to give undergraduate students entering their senior year meaningful exposure to careers in renewable energy. The program provides structured work experience, onboarding, mentorship, and opportunities to engage with both department-specific teams and the broader organization.

Why This Matters

We believe students do their best work when they feel supported, challenged, and included. This program is designed to help interns take ownership of their learning, gain confidence in their abilities, and explore potential career paths in renewable energy.

Managers play a key role in this process by providing clear work plans, guidance, feedback, and mentorship – ensuring interns have a meaningful and productive experience.

How the Program Works

Interns can generally expect the program to include:

  • Structured onboarding and training
  • Defined projects aligned with business needs
  • Mentorship and regular feedback from hiring managers
  • Opportunities to collaborate with both department teams and company-wide initiatives
  • Visits to Longroad’s wind and solar assets or other learning experiences
  • Company-wide networking and learning events
  • A final presentation with the intern cohort to showcase their projects

Timeline

Recruitment typically begins in late summer or early fall (August-November), with the program itself taking place the following summer, from June to August.

Interns are expected to be motivated, professional, and engaged, working scheduled hours, collaborating effectively, and taking ownership of their projects and learning throughout the program.
